Discover Blind Soccer: Try the Fast-Growing Paralympic Sport at Arena Sports Magnuson

USABA and SeattleFWC26 invite blind and low vision athletes, goalkeepers, coaches, and community partners to a free clinic to experience this electrifying game.

Most people know soccer by the sound of cheering fans. Blind soccer starts with a different sound: the rattle of an audible ball, the voices of teammates calling to each other, and the moment when trust and timing replace sight.

This electrifying Paralympic sport will be on display at a free Blind Soccer Clinic in Seattle, co-hosted by the U.S. Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) and the Seattle FIFA World Cup 26™ Local Organizing Committee (SeattleFWC26), and showcased at Arena Sports Magnuson.

On December 13, 2025, blind and low vision athletes, sighted goalkeepers, coaches, officials, PE teachers and recreation leaders will have a chance to step onto the pitch and experience what makes blind soccer one of the fastest-growing adaptive sports in the world.

What is blind soccer?

Blind soccer is a five-a-side version of the world’s most popular game, adapted for athletes who are blind or have low vision. Players wear eye shades and use a specially designed ball with internal rattles so they can track it by sound. Communication is constant, the pace is intense, and the level of skill and orientation is incredible to watch.

The sport is played in more than 60 countries and will be part of the Paralympic Games when Team USA makes its blind soccer debut as host nation at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics. This clinic gives our community a front-row seat—and a chance to join in—right here in Seattle.

What to expect at the clinic

During the clinic, participants will:

  • Learn the basics of blind soccer rules, safety and field setup
  • Try hands-on drills and small-sided games with guidance from experienced coaches
  • See demonstrations from advanced players and national-level leaders
  • Hear about Seattle’s growing role in the blind soccer movement, including plans for future programming and regional play

The event is designed for:

  • Athletes who are blind or low vision – all experience levels welcome
  • Sighted goalkeepers and guides
  • Coaches, officials, PE teachers and recreation staff interested in adapted coaching and officiating
  • Community partners and media who want to learn more about inclusive sport

Soccer for everyone
